internet pearls vol. 2 (and a download for your computer garden)
sweet places on the internet and some downloadable assets to make your computer files feel more like a computer garden
my internet foraging developed a theme and i turned that into an artist date where i captured assets to share with you in a downloadable format <3
In your inbox on sunday morning a themed issue of internet pearls, centered around the cyber garden. These are places you might find some inspiration, a resource, or simply a beautiful pixel world that you want to gaze at for at least a few minutes. You might also find something to download — from my digital device to yours.
This entry of internet pearls felt like a moment of synchronicity, a big theme in the artist's way that both challenged me and has given me lasting delight since I completed it. As I foraged for links around the internet for a new edition of internet pearls this week, I started to observe a theme in what I was discovering (or perhaps what I was seeking out). As links accumulated and the bones of this entry came to life, I found myself re-visiting the icons that make my computer feel like home and thought it would be a good time to share some with my little community here (-: On a walk this weekend, I found myself on an impromptu artist date, something I did a lot of during the artists way and certainly always did long before, but the idea adds a bit of extra sweetness to anything I might once have classified as an artist date, any activity I do alone, just for me based purely on desire. My crispy morning walk around the park, documenting flowers for my computer folders certainly felt like one!

browse through this delightful archive of herbs and flowers! not only is the site absolutely stunning, there is a wealth of information here in case you would like to ground yourself in nature while still being *on the web*
sensing the theme here? another gallery of flowers, in a presentation I find equally as delightful to look at. unfortunately this hasn’t been updated in a while!
now this is a work of art to really behold. I am so happy to have found this, something to really slow you down on the internet and just gaze, its beautiful. take a poke around! If you click any link in this email, let it be this one.
ok this one is a little off theme, but I couldn’t not share this because it really made me smile. yes, I will submit henry and let’s stay in touch if we see our friends make it onto the wall! This is a page on a cool site for the Institute for Interspecies Art and Relations, which I am glad to have stumbled upon.
download zone!
You’ve arrived at the end of this week’s internet pearls! As a first of it's kind here in computer angel, I want to gift you with a small set of images to use to start to beautify your cyber garden, something I will certainly be building on in future entries as I continue to compile my library of items. I find that this inspires me to keep my space tidy, new projects and folders need new visuals, and the world around me inspires what I get to choose from. it feels so much sweeter to drop a file into a flower than into a blue folder, but maybe that’s just me.
download here! collected both irl and online.
skip if you already know how to do this! setting these up is actually quite easy. simply download the folder below, find the folder you’d like to customize, right click it and select “get info” — head back to your folder of flowers, select one and copy it (control + c) and then click on the blue folder or existing icon in the “get info” window, it will highlight in blue & you can paste the new icon.
send me a flower!
I hope this inspires you to tend to your computer garden, even if you’re organizing boring things. I would like to extend an offering to my community that if you have a flower, or find a flower or piece of wildlife (or anything really) that you’d like some help turning into a folder icon, you can send them to me at lulachristman@gmail.com - I would be delighted to extend the library and share them with others!
what do you want your folders to look like? drop ideas in the comments and perhaps they’ll make their way into future downloads.
from my digital device to yours <3
I didn't know you could change the icon of folders! This flowers are the cutest, just downloaded them and will giving my desktop a makeover. <3
I love the idea of a computer/cyber garden! Clement Valla’s images of ferns, flowers and grasses as data points are especially cool. Great find! 🖥️🌱
